post no. 241 -- cruel morning good world

i feel like death, literally. these last couple have days have been nothing truly special around here, and that's giving it to you with a positive spin. it's currently 3:23am, and i'm wide awake (thanks to kris coming home an hour ago) with what seems like no hopes of possible sleep in the near future. i can hear jack snoring on the sectional, along with buzz gritting his teeth. those two's odd sleeping habits, along with the wind outside, and this wonderful cough, leave me no choice but to sit in the office and peruse my blog reader. i'm still debating if work seems feasible tomorrow, well, later this morning. as of now, i'm voting probably not.

the other day my sister sent us out a box of awesome goodies. well two boxes actually. they were a combination of christmas, birthday, and random holidays in between presents, because that's how cool we procrastinators are. oh yes, it's not just her, i have a box for each branch of our family sitting right next to me as i type. anyways, the boxes had some awesome stuff. for one these dolls:

aren't they sweet? i guess one of the huge pluses to living in arizona is the ability to pick up mexican folk art and send them to the sister who is currently cut off from everything except tiki masks and "mahalo for removing your slippahs". not that i'm complaining, but there's only just so much space on one's wall for hibiscus and plumeria artwork...

i guess i should attempt more sleep soon. i doubt it will be a work day, based on the simple math of no one is really all that productive on 3 hours of sleep. throw in a head, chest, and flu bug, and that percentage of production drops into the negative range. good night, err.. good morning!

so kris and i are beyond obsessed with sons of anarchy.
kris a bit more than me.
you think i'm kidding?

and i give you,
exhibit a....
once he realized i was spying, he decided to make funny faces with me in photobooth.

(p.s. like my mullet??)

i'm slowly getting over this cold of mine
with saltines, sprite, and lots of reese's candy.
mmmm... and hubby's making dinner tonight.
i should feel under the weather more often.
(insert devilish laugh here ... mwahaha)

mmk, back to the show!

post no. 239 -- penthouse tour v. 1

yesterday was spent cleaning like crazy, and today i'm starting to feel the consequences of my hard work. last night i came down with a sore throat and a cough, and today has been spent laid up on my couch trying to feel better.

our house is starting to feel more and more like home, as we get everything put away and set up just how we'd like it. i decided to snap some pictures to give you all a bit more of a glimpse into the penthouse.
as we get more and more taken care of around here i'll take some more pictures to document how things progress.

truthfully i'm not a fan of the blue and brown color palette, but for now it works. i'm currently planning a home decor overhaul that involves a gorgeous rug from target, and the colors mustard, grey, brown, and beige. stay tuned!

post no. 237 -- dream home tour

buzz and i have been talking a lot about our future lately and where that puts us. ultimately we know that means southern california. we both grew up there and truthfully, i couldn't imagine starting a family anywhere else.

naturally i turned to pinterest and the rest of the google images team when it came down to daydreaming about our future home, and so far this is what i've put together.

coming from southern california, spanish revival and san juan mission makes my heart swoon. i can just picture driving up the driveway (in a white range rover *cough*) each afternoon bringing the babes home from a fun days adventure with friends and family.

i really love the contrast of dark wood floors with stark white furniture, however keeping it that white with jack and our future babies running about, may or may not be 100% doable. maybe just the master bedroom will be a white wonderland, out little peacefully pure retreat from the chaos of the rest of the world.

this is all a long ways off (well maybe 2-3 years) but a girl can dream! do you have your future space planned out on your blog? link up i'd love to see what you all have come up with for your own retreats!!

post no. 236 -- not so domestic after all

remember when i said that the recipe yesterday looked super yummy? well... it did, but the version i made looked nothing like the picture. therefore... not so yummy. kris even ponied up the phrase "not your best" while he tried to slurp down what he could. hey for every amazing dish you make, there's bound to be one disaster. i think it was the sauce that might have done it in. i've never been all that great with homemade sauces.

the only thing i managed to do amazingly was boil the noodles. sad, but true. i don't even want to show you guys the sauce, cause i really hate how it looked. maybe one day i'll get this whole domestic thing down.

currently:
house in shambles
dirty dishes in sink
unmade bed

well i'm off to work to make some money to pay off those ever constant bills. maybe i'll cook up a fantasy shopping list while i'm there...
